What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is the science of treating the body naturally by finding joints which are not moving properly,
altering their mechanics, thereby causing pain or restricted movement. When this occurs and a nerve if affected, you
may have numbness, tingling or pain shooting into your arms or legs. With a quick, gentle adjustment, chiropractors
can correct joint function.
Why do I have to keep coming back?
You don't have to if one treatment corrects the problem and you're pain free. However, most of us
have poor posture, chronic problems and lifestyles that don't promote a healthy way of living. The more you do (exercise,
sit/stand up straight) on your own the less you'll need to see me. I see my chiropractor, (yes, chiropractors need to
get adjusted as well), once a month because that's what works for me to keep me healthy so that I can continue to treat my
patients. As a result if I wake up with a stiff neck, one adjustment is all it takes to straighten me out. At
very least, I recommend getting adjusted 3-4 times a year, but if you prefer seeing me only when you're in pain, that's fine
too. I, personally, can't afford to be hurting for more than a day and I feel great after an adjustment.
Why does it make noise when you get adjusted?
The joints are fluid filled, vaccuum sealed cavities. During an adjustment, air escapes just like
when you open up a can of soda.
Will it hurt?
Usually not. When done properly, adjustments are pain free or uncomfortable. However, if you're
in a lot of pain already and just touching the spine is painful, then you will have some pain during an adjustment, but you
should not feel worse after the treatment and often patients feel better.
